New Mexico Bowhunter's Association, over 50 years of New Mexico Archery
The NMBA was founded in the kitchen of Mr. Jim Simmons. The NMBA was created to help promote hunting in New Mexico. We also serve to provide opportunities for our members to shoot any of the sanctioned NFAA rounds. ![]() The New Mexico Bowhunter's Association board of directors have authorized the creation of this web site. If you CLICK HERE , you will be routed to the National Field Archery Association web site to register as a member. ![]() It is October and we have started our 2009 season, I hope all of you shot and had a great time. Hunting season is either over or will be for the most part by now; it was a typical year for me Elk 1 – Bob 0. Ok to start off, the agenda Items for the upcoming meeting in Vegas are on the Document section of the NFAA web site, pay close attention to the agenda Items submitted by the Council (here it is as written): I have been approached by the Arizona Director and our Councilwomen (Frank and Becky Pearson) to run for the SW Sectional Council position, the election would be at the Sectional Outdoor in June of 09 and would be in effect in January 2010. I need to know how all of you feel prior to the National Meeting in February 09. I can not be both Council and Director, but I can be State President and Councilman. As president I can appoint a person to be Director for the remainder of the 2010 year (Jan to July) until we have elections in July of 2010. I have mixed feelings but I have wanted this for a while but at the same time I have an obligation to the state and will not take this on without your blessings. If you are interested in the Directors position, please contact me. ![]() We have a National Champion among us. Ron St. Clair won the 2008 NFAA Unmarked 3-D in AMBB. He followed that up finishing 5th in the Outdoor Nationals. Ron was joined at the outdoors by two other NMBA members. Competing for their first time, Daryl Sandoval finished 8th in the second flight of the AMBHFS division while his son, Justin ws 5th in the YAMFS division. Congratulations to all three of you. I am sure that you had a great time. ![]() The dates for the SW Sectional Indoors is on the calendar page. There is also contact information there. ![]() We do not have a new NMBA President or NFAA Director. We also did not get a new Member at large. Bob Borges was elected as the state President and NFAA Director for two more years. Joining Bob is Landy Hinsley as the Member at Large. We also have one new addition to the executive committee family, Peggy Mc Donald. Peggy will take over the job as Secretary and Treasurer for the state. Please congratulate and thank her for the job. I am sure you will be hearing from her soon. ![]() I would like to hold a club challenge this up comming season. The club that has the most participation at all of the state tournaments will receive a trophy called the Member's Challenge Championship. I will personally pay for the trophy and present it at Grand Field to the club with the highest number of participants at all of the state tournaments. To let all of you know, San Juan Archers would have won this year, but Sandia Crest should win hands down.
